The spring Station 9 plankton net tow was fairly diverse: diatom chains, radiolaria (amoebae that can have symbiotic relationships with phytoplantkon), and Protoperidinium (a dinoflagellate that gains energy from ingesting other organisms rather than directly from sunlight). Like many other stations, two types of Ceratium were present.
