The major phytoplankton in summer's Station 7 plankton net sample was the dinoflagellateCeratium. A few Coscinodiscus diatoms and Protoperidinium dinoflagellates were also seen. The relatively large and fuzzy-appearing (i.e., out of focus) organisms are members of the ocean's dominant zooplankton: copepods.
