Station 2's plankton net tow was dominated
by Ceratium. Also seen were a few colorless dinoflagellates called
Protoperidinium and possibly the frustule (vase-like shell) of a Tintinnid,
a type of planktonic ciliate that feeds on small phytoplankton.
