Our first day went well in terms of data collection, we were able to post the results of two CTD casts. Mid-afternoon on Thursday (10/14), gale force winds (with gusts up to 50 knots) forced us to shut down operations for about 16 hours. |

Early Friday morning, we collected data from Station 4. We were joined by a friendly pilot whale who seemed to like the frigid temperatures more than any of us. |

Station 5 occurred on Friday afternoon under clearer skies and calmer seas. Collin and Stacey deployed their in-water optical data sensor package. Our first in-water samples will be taken later today. |
