SPRING CRUISE LOG SUMMER CRUISE LOG

Our first day went well in terms of data collection, we were able to post the results of two CTD casts. Mid-afternoon on Thursday (10/14), gale force winds (with gusts up to 50 knots) forced us to shut down operations for about 16 hours.

Early Friday morning, we collected data from Station 4.

We were joined by a friendly pilot whale who seemed to like the frigid temperatures more than any of us.

Station 5 occurred on Friday afternoon under clearer skies and calmer seas. Collin and Stacey deployed their in-water optical data sensor package.

Our first in-water samples will be taken later today.
