The end of a successful research voyage is marked by smiling
faces. Chief Scientist Mike (center) led the effort to collect oceanographic
data from 42 Gulf of Maine stations over a five-day period. No wonder those
smiles appear a bit weary!

Folks from Bigelow Laboratory were happy to glimpse a welcome familar sight: Matinicus Rock at the mouth of Penobscot Bay, Maine (>>>). The weather on our final cruise day was rainy and the waves towered at times (<<<). Our student interns -- Jennifer (Univ. of New England), Sue and Mark (Univ. of Rhode Island) -- got first-hand experience at sea. They were immensely helpful throughout the cruise. They also had a chance to explore the ship's wheelhouse, high above the action on deck. |
