The plankton assemblage taken during spring's Station 6 net tow was dominanted by two species ofCeratium, which are dinoflagellates. A few diatoms -- including Coscinodiscus and chains of Thalassiosira -- were observed. Protoperidinium, a heterotrophic dinoflagellate (i.e., gets energy by ingesting other organisms, not from sunlight), was also sampled. Links to FlowCAM images for Station 6 are at bottom right.
