Low-intertidal tide pools exist for only short periods of time as the tide goes out and then returns. They don't experience the stresses of the upper and mid-level pools. Because they are stable environments, these are the best tide pools for observing animals and finding a diversity of algae. Deep tide pools are often layered with algae and requires the observer to push aside the blades to see what might be going on in the pool. |
