Station S1's plankton net tow was filled
with Phaeocystis, a phytoplankton that can form huge, gelatinous colonies
up to hundreds of micrometers in size. Diatoms were abundant: Eucampia,
Coscinodiscus and other chains were seen. A few dinoflagellates --
Ceratium -- were also present. Links to FlowCAM
images for Station S1 are at bottom right.
