Tubularia spp., pictured above, is a flower-like hydroid that grows in dense clumps. The reproductive organs of the hydroid are obvious on Tubularia spp. The grape-like clusters of the gonophore, are visible toward the base of the tentacles. Click on the image for labeled anatomy.

Did you know...
"Snail fur", the pink, furry looking carpet often found on hermit crab shells, are actually hydroids. It has been discovered that each hermit crab species has its own species of hydroid, of the genus Hydractinia, associated with it. Does Mitzi have any snail fur?
