East-facing smooth rocky shore exposed to heavy wave action. Zonation here is typical of a wave-swept shore adjacent to a sandy beach. Both the Kennebec and Morse Rivers meet the ocean near this site.The island lies a short distance offshore from Popham Beach State Park. It can be accessible for a reasonable amount of time both before and after low tide, by walking over a sand bar. Attention must be kept to the tide to prevent stranding. Parking is a problem in the summer months.
